History

UK Jewellery Designer of the year finalist Stacey Whale is one of today's bright lights and rising stars of the UK jewellery industry.  Fast becoming recognised for her unique style and innovative design, Stacey's jewellery is superbly handcrafted in gold and exquisitely set with a mix of unusual and vibrant gemstones.  Her timeless classic modern style is sophisticated, beautiful and feminine, with designs that are both cutting edge and of highly desirable styling.

Stacey's exceptional design attracts world wide attention and has won her four craftsmanship and design awards for technological innovation and fine jewellery design.  Her unique style, in particular her use of precious lenses, employs an original method of setting loose gems under a polished magnifying lens creating the illusion they are suspended or floating in liquid.  In other designs her delicate lace like settings allow the light to reveal the true colour and beauty of the gemstones she chooses.  Rather than use traditional claw settings, Stacey has also devised a way of casting gold inspired by the natural forms of native New Zealand flower pods.

As an artist designer, Stacey takes her inspiration from a broad range of natural forms and architecture and is especially interested in organic shapes and structures at the microscopic scale.
Stacey's designs are stunning and bold, often consisting of contrasting colours such as 18ct yellow gold with blue topaz and diamonds.  She also incorporates citrine, peridot, labradorite, white and pink pearls and sumptuous Tahitian pearls and each piece is created to the highest level of craftsmanship using the finest quality materials.

Born in New Zealand, Stacey studied Textile Design in 1992 and Art & Design, graduating in 1999.  She left her home town of Plimmerton in Wellington, New Zealand to take up residence in the United Kingdom.  Stacey has now been living and working in the UK for seven years, basing herself in London.
