About

STACEY WHALE

Award-winning contemporary jeweller Stacey Whale, born in Wellington, New Zealand, creates modern classic jewellery from her vibrant shop in The Old Post Office, Upper Moutere, Nelson. She transforms gold, silver, platinum, diamonds, and colourful gemstones into beautiful treasures inspired by nature, art, and architecture. Her fine eye for detail and ability to create pieces entirely unique to her reflects her core design principles: purity of thought, inspiration, and beauty first and foremost.

After earning an advanced diploma in Art & Craft Design at Whitireia, Stacey’s career soared in London from 2001 to 2010 where her international experience refined her distinctive style. Back at the bench in 2020, her three gold medals and numerous accolades fuel her innovative, non-traditional approach, crafting iconic pieces that shine with her bold, unique vision and cement her as a global name in modern jewellery design.

About Stacey Whale

Award-Winning

FINE JEWELLERY

Stacey's exceptional jewellery design attracts worldwide attention and has won craftsmanship and design awards, including a gold award for jewellery art and design, technological innovation, and fine jewellery design. Her unique style, one in particular, is the use of precious lenses that employs her original technique of setting loose gems under a sapphire magnifying lens, creating the illusion that they are suspended or floating in liquid. In other designs, her delicate lace-like settings allow the light to reveal the true colour and beauty of the gemstones she chooses. Rather than use traditional claw settings, Stacey has also devised a way of casting gold inspired by the natural forms of native New Zealand flower pods.

INSPIRATION

Delving into the depths of the natural and microscopic, you'll find a world of fascinating beauty. The mysterious and the curious form a complex pattern of the organic and architectural. These fragments of hidden detail often provide a platform of inspiration for Stacey Whale's innovative and exceptional pieces of fine jewellery.

Stacey was raised amidst pottery and fabrics, and, immediately after school, pursued studies in textile design and visual communication. She combines these influences with her love of fine art and design, drawing inspiration from natural forms, as well as art and architecture, with a particular fascination for organic shapes, structures, patterns, and textures at the microscopic scale.

As an artist and designer, Stacey's true passion lies in jewellery, channeling this into creations that capture the essence of her artistry and resonate with those who wear them, expressing a modern feminine beauty and elegance that is entirely her own.
